Erik Bisgaard Madsen, DVM, PhD, BCom (born 1955) is newly appointed Associate Dean of Private and Public Sector Services at University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Science. He is responsible for the strategy for private and public partnerships at the faculty. Previouly, he was Associate Dean for Research at University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Life Sciences, Director for Food Safety and Veterinary Issues in The Danish Agriculture and Food Council, Deputy CEO and member of Board of Directors in The Danish Bacon and Meat Council, CEO in the private company “DyrlægeData”, senior scientist at the Danish Institute for Food and Veterinary Research, and veterinary practitioner at Ansager Large Animal Hospital.
He was chairman of the technical committee for Food, Health and Welfare in The Council for Strategic Research 2007-2010, board member of The Technical University of Denmark 2007-2010, board member of The Danish Institute for Food and Veterinary Research 2004-2007, chairman for the ad hoc Forestry Committee in The Danish Ministry for the Environment 2010-2011, member of the the Food Advisory Committee 2001-10 and the Food Control Committee 2006-10 under the Ministry of Food Agriculture and Fisheries, and is now board member of Mobile Fitness, FoodBEST and The Center for Advanced Food Studies (LMC).
Erik Bisgaard Madsen conducted R&D within veterinary epidemiology for a number of years in his early career. Since then he has had several positions with responsibility for strategic research and private-public partnerships.
